RED BBQ SLAW

I grew up in Georgia, but my grandmother lived in Lexington, North Carolina.  Our trips to visit her always included barbeque with this wonderful type of slaw.

4 cups finely shredded cabbage
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tbsp white sugar
2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 dashes hot pepper sauce, or to taste

RED BBQ SLAW Directions

  1. Place the cabbage into a salad bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together apple cider vinegar, ketchup, sugar, red pepper flakes, and hot sauce until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage, toss thoroughly, and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.
